Google is getting in on the latest ad tech craze: curation

The ad tech showdown over “curation” may fizzle out before it even sparks: Google is now in the mix.

Yesterday, Google Ad Manager unveiled a series of new curation services involving a raft of partnerships, tacitly acknowledging the strategic significance posed by the latest buzzword in ad tech.

“This is an important step for the open web because of how much ad inventory is transacted via Google’s pipes,” said Joe Root, CEO of Permutive, one of the ad tech companies working with Google to bring its vision of curation to life.

Democrats’ Campaign Ad Spend 63% Higher Vs. Republicans’ Since July

Over the last 105 days, Democrat campaign ad spend has totaled $1.37 billion vs. Republicans’ ad spend of $913.9 million, ad analytics firm AdImpact says. For candidates’ campaign spend, the Harris
campaign has spent $646.3 million vs. the Trump campaign at $358.8 million, while Democrat groups’ ad spending totals $726.1 million vs. Republican groups’ spend at $555.1 million.

Bluesky Lays Out Plans To Combat Election Misinformation

Bluesky’s election integrity team and Head of Trust and Safety Aaron Rodericks will be “reviewing content for potential misinformation and unconfirmed information regarding claims about the U.S.
election.” Users can report posts to the moderation service, which will remove content if it “encourages or glorifies intimidation or disruption in voting, tabulation, or certification.” Bluesky says
it will label emerging reports as “unconfirmed” until the company can verify them, and will closely monitor the post-election period in order “to identify and address any disruptions to the peaceful
transition of power,” alluding to the events which led to an attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
